ext3 FS problem

Ok I am using Redhat 7.3 and ext3 as my fs. I rebooted a few minutes ago, and when the boot proccess gets to the beginning of the "Redhat section hit I for interactive mode" it spits out an error can't mount /proc then all the services after of course fail, and it drops me to a filesystem repair mode. Once in this mode if I type #mount /proc it mounts. Once this is done, I know my filesystem is ok, because from this level I can browse and even open text docs, and logs. When I try to run fsck I get errors about ext3. I am just wondering if anyone has had a problem like this, and wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

Nothing helps more than the exact error messages!!
Post your /etc/fstab. Have you modified it lately?
I'd pop the rescue cd ( rh 7.3 disc1, in your case ) boot from it and fsck.ext3 on all linux partitions while they are unmounted.
