error timeout: <urlopen error timed out> when using yum on centos5.2

Hai..need some help here
i can't do yum on my centos5.2 machine
the error is :

yum update
rpmforge 100% |=========================| 1.1 kB 00:00
http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el5/en/i386/...rimary.xml.gz: [Errno 12] Timeout: <urlopen error timed out>
Trying other mirror.
http://fr2.rpmfind.net/linux/dag/red...rimary.xml.gz: [Errno 12] Timeout: <urlopen error timed out>
Trying other mirror.
http://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/dag...rimary.xml.gz: [Errno 12] Timeout: <urlopen error timed out>
Trying other mirror.
Error: failure: repodata/primary.xml.gz from rpmforge: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.

i have searched google but no luck
have yum clean all, yum clean metadata, yum clean dbcache
still have the same error
try to modify /etc/yum.conf with adding http_caching=packages
still error
try to modify /etc/yum.repos.d/rpmforge.repo with changing enable=0 and protect=1 and comment #gpgkey = file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-rpmforge-dag
still no use

any suggestion will be appreciated
thanks in advanced

Start with

yum repolist

Those ones you mentioned are all non-std repos eg dag, rpmforge. I'm not sure they'd work with Centos anyway.
Try disabling all non-Centos repos, do 'yum clean all' and try 'yum update' again.

FYI, yum repolist gives me
Code:
 * base: centos.mirror.aussiehq.net.au
 * updates: centos.mirror.aussiehq.net.au
 * addons: centos.mirror.aussiehq.net.au
 * extras: centos.mirror.aussiehq.net.au
repo id              repo name                                status
addons               CentOS-5 - Addons                        enabled :       0
base                 CentOS-5 - Base                          enabled :   2,508
extras               CentOS-5 - Extras                        enabled :     298
updates              CentOS-5 - Updates                       enabled :     186
repolist: 2,992

You can try to rebuild the rpm database:
Code:
# cd /var/lib/rpm
# rm -f __db*
# rpmdb -v --rebuilddb
Also read carefully this HOWTO.

Is the machine behind a proxy? Can you open anyone of the URLs reported in the error message using Firefox?

finally i've found the problem
i think this error because of repository overload
so i edit /etc/yum.conf
and add line timeout=300 (default value is 30 sec)
now it's working...case closed

thanks guys for your help
