error message received while trying to load boot disk

when attempting to load a suse boot disk the disk sounds like its loading, but brings up an error message saying
"the system memory manager has detected an error caused by a fault in one of the device drivers or programs loaded in the system.

due to this fault the system is probally in an unstable state, and you are therefore recommended to reboot the computer immediately. if the problem persists then try to isolate which program is at fault then contact the technical support department for that program.

hold down the ctrl and alt keys and press del to reboot, press any other key to just abort the current program."

on top of that, the computer wont respond after it diplays that message and i have to maually restart it. my bios is configured to default with the exception of the boot order. all unneccesary hardware has been removed. i have checked the boot disk and it is fine, and seems to do this with any other boot disk i attempt. all my hard drive has loaded onto it is the xp os with no programs or files of any sort. i am terribly stumped and would greatly appreciate any suggestions or help.

have u tried setting up the suse system from the dist cd rom after entering the dos mode?
do u have a dos boot disk? or do u have a auto boot option for cd rom enabled on ur bios?
what i meant was if u have the autoboot option enabled then u will not have any problem. else boot from windows 98 or dos boot disk and proceed for the system installation using the dos tools(frankly speaking i use redhat dist and mepis versions). one piece of information required "did u install the system and compile a new kernel and then try to load it?"
if yes then u need to recheck the opitions set while compiling the kernel and then recompile the kernel.
if no then please try the said steps.
if this didnt work then iam sorry I too am a rookie.
