Question Error deleting file? I/O error...

Trying to keep a long story short, I am in the /usr/lib/ directory, logged in as root, with X shutdown. I want to remove/copy a file that seems to be causing me trouble. However the file isn't listed when I 'ls'

It's the file 'libGL.so.1.0.4496' when I type rm it returns:

rm: accessing '/usr/lib/libGL.so.1.0.4496': Input/Output error

I assumed the file wasn't there, so I tried to copy a new version of the file to that directory and recieved the same error.

Anyone know what's up?

Pretty weird here.... When I rebotted nix, the file was listed and I was able to delete it again.

However, odd thing:

There were two of the exact same file listed on the screen, when I deleted one, both disappeared, but how would that happen? I did multiple "ls" commands and it was always listed double.

Now I'm on to big trouble...

I'm trying to copy those files to the /usr/lib/ directory and I'm getting the I/O error.

Is it possible that the reason I can't copy a file there is that there is another file that is linking to that file? I have a file that, according to the nvidia installer, is a soft link file to the one I'm trying to copy.

If that's not clear:

'ln -sf libGL.so.1.0.4496 /usr/lib/libGL.so.1' is what I need to run once I copy the libGL.so.1.0.4496 to /usr/lib/

'libGL.so.1' exists already (uninstall didn't remove it) but ~.so.1.0.4496 does not, I can't seem to copy it there either.

If it's probably the link file that is preventing me from copying this file over, I should be able to delete the ~.so.1 file, correct?
