error: 15 file not found on fc6 2.6.18-1.2798

I have so far seen several threads related to this but no solutions as of yet.

I just reinstalled Fedora core 6 i386. I let the installer automaticly configure partitioning, and upon the first boot received "Error 15: File not found." Full message is this:

Booting command-list

root (hd0,0)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6 ro root=/dev/hda1 acpi=off rhgb quiet

Error 15: File not found

Press any key to continue...

I have tried playing around with the root= portion (thats wht it looks like it does now). I have tried running find /boot, find vmlinuz and neither found anything.

When in command line and I type "kernel (hd0,0)/" and hitting tab displays:
"Possible files are: lost+found grub System.map-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6 config-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6 symvers-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6.gz."

I have tried reinstalling twice with full formats each time but it keeps coming up with the same error. I have installed using these same cd's before and it installed flawlessly. Any ideas?

You might want to review this;

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla....cgi?id=178143

Also try booting into rescue mode from the installation media, when the menu screen is displayed type; linux rescue

Answer a few questions and pay extra attention to the chroot message screen and follow the advice, when ready type something like; /sbin/grub-install --recheck /dev/hda
