Hi,
I've just installed Mandrake 8.0 and run into an little problem with my printer. Either my parallel port isn't installed properly or CUPS doesn't like my printer - it can't detect it. I have used RedHat 6.2 and SUSE 7.0 without any problems, so I am assuming it is the new CUPS drivers that are the problem. Does anyone know how to solve the problem? I tried configuring it manually, but it wouldn't work. I followed some instructions I found on the MandrakeForum site about downgrading CUPS for certain Epson printers but that didn't work either.
The reason I think it might be the parallel port is because I have a scanner connected too and sane can't detect it. I tried connecting the printer to the parallel port directly, bypassing the scanner thru-port, but still have the same problem. I know it all works fine under Windoze, so the hardware is not at fault. Has anyone else had the same problem?
Thanks.
