emulators

Ok--- I've heard conflicting advice-- do MS Windows emulators work or not? Can you run all win apps or just some? I would rather not do a dual boot-- my wife still wants to use some windows apps like quicken and stuff. What are my options?

I've only heard of wine -- I'll be using mandrake 8.2, Ihave no idea if that makes a diff or not, i'm still new.

VMWare works, and works well. The only drawback, really, is that because it emulates the hardware completely, the 'windows' you'll be running will be slower than if you had Windows running native (i.e. dual-boot).

There are many other emulatoratory programs around, like bochs and plex86, but they are, alas, not always easy to setup and can be quite unstable if not setup correctly.
