emacs / vi file permissions etc
Say I have some files which are owned by a group 'dev'. I want to edit these files using emacs / gvim or whatever else, while logged into X as bob for eg.
When the file I want to edit is opened however it can't be written to based on permissions. Is there someway to start emacs /gvim etc as a different user? eg. gvim -su dev or something like that. Thanks. |
Sure. Login is as 'bob' and open up a Konsole and type 'su root' or just 'su' and then type the admin pass and then start upp vi or EmaX
