I believe a problem I am having with vsftpd might be different than related threads, because I do not believe my particular problem is due to a vsftpd.conf containing bad values or a blocked port. vsftpd failed to work after a reboot, but it was not a reboot after downloading a new version of the kernel.
To gain further information about this problem, I ran one set of tests with a vsftpd.conf and /usr/sbin/vsftpd from a running Fedora 5 system, plugged them into their respective places on the Fedora 6 system and got this error:
500 OOPS: missing value in config file for: ELF
This is the error I started getting right after the reboot.
I have seen ELF discussed regarding the kernel, but do not have enough knowledge to look further.
When I get back to work Monday, I will reboot using an older version of the kernel to see how that affects vsftpd. In addition, I would appreciate any pointers as to additional places to look, to fix this problem.
