editor that reads & writes msword doc files

I am running Slackware 9.1 and I have a small lan where I have 3 win2000 boxes. I would like to move them to Linux but they need to be able to read and write in ms word .doc files. Is there a suite or word processor that can do this?

Abiword, OpenOffice, StarOffice and I think several others..

PS. Wrong forum. This forum is reserved for questions regarding this actual website, not to ask technical questions about Linux. It has been reported and will most likely get moved appropiately.

Sure - OpenOffice:

http://www.openoffice.org

You might also want to check out the March Linux Journal (it might still be available on some new stands) - it has some fairly extensive coverage of the "Open Desktop":

Hope that helps .. PSM
