Edit Commands


What kind commands (i mean in terminal) give permisson to edit files ?

Did you mean text based files ?
A lot . Typically edit programs are vi , emacs . But be sure that you have read-write permission (except you log in as root user) on these files .

Are you referring to commands for changing permissions and/or ownerships? If so, the commands are chmod and chown for changing permissions and ownerships respectively.

i mean system files. I use Kubuntu with KDE desktop. I have to use terminal mode to edit samba configuration and iptables-save. So what kind commands i can use ?

You use

$ sudo editor file,

replacing "editor" with the editor you want to use and "file" with the file you want to edit, e.g.

$ sudo emacs /etc/samba/smb.conf.

Edit: "sudo" is used to give you root privileges, on distros other than (K)Ubuntu, you'd use "su".
