I'd like to convince my employer to look at converting a large number of ebar (email and ssh only workstations) over to open source. Has anyone seen a concise guide for building such a machine? Can't seem to google it. I've had a reasonable amount of experience with linux myself, but a nice step by step guide would really move the process along.

It has to be very secure, both from external attack and from users on the local end; it needs to be intuitive, has to run firefox, and has to run ssh. It would be nice if it could image and or patch itself every night (but that's not necessary).
