DualBoot Win2k Linux /w Raid via Lilo
Ok i decided this one wasnt for the Installation forum.
Here it goes
I have a Epox Dual P3 Mobo with the HPT370 RAID controller. I have three different physical HDDs, a DVD-rom, Burner, and LS-120, runnign slackware 8.
Drives:
10Gb - Primary Master (linux)
Burner - Primary Slave
DVD - Secondary Master
LS-120 - Secondary Slave
HPT370 Drives
1: 40Gb (win2k, ntfs5)
4: 20Gb
Now currently I have set the bios (award) to boot the SCSI (Wanna be raid controller HPT370) as the first device and this is all fine if i want to use win2k permantly. BUT i want to be able to set the primary boot device to the 10Gb Linux Drive, and when i do this i am able to use linux fine (no HPT370 troubles with new kernel, with the voodoo3 fb, in SMP) .. BUT Lilo is unable to load the Win2k bootloader off the HPT370. it sees it as hde (partition hde1) but just hangs when i select the win2k boot option.
i have tried setting in lilo
other = /dev/hde
label = win2k
and
other = /dev/hde1
label = Win2k
table = /devhde
is there any other way to keep my drives physically where they are (as the on board ide controller on the epox is only ata66, and i dont want the win2k drives on ata66)
Please help, this is about the only thing that i cant work out.
