Welcome to LQ!

It's not exactly clear from your post but an sata drive will be
either /dev/sda or /dev/hde depending upon whether it's
recognized as a sata or pata drive. But /dev/hda will always
be a regular ata drive. IDE0 will have /dev/hda for the master
and /dev/hdb for the slave.

You need to give more information about your boot problem,
such as which boot loader you use (i.e. GrUB or LiLO) and
how you have them setup. So in your next post you should
include the output of /etc/lilo.conf or whatever file contains
the boot information for GrUB if you use it. You should also
post how you try to load, and what error message you get.
