Dual Boot Reinstall

Ok I have a dual boot machine running fedora core 4 and WinXP. I have to redo my windows partition, but not my linux partition. Here's the problem, WinXP is going to whipe out Grub when I install it. Can I simply reinstall grub, or do I have to back up my boot sector. Any Ideas?

in the long run its easier for you to have a live cd such as kanotix or knoppix and use it to re-install grub.

(2) you can use various ways of backing up your mbr....eg partimage...ghost or the dd command but what the heck a live cd is the way to go as it just happens to have partimage on it

sweet, I just so happen to have 3 variations of live linux CD's. Just wanted to check and make sure that installing grub was possible at that stage
