OK, I'll explain my setup first & tell you what I have & what I want to do.
I have a switch, DSL modem, 2 linux (redhat & mandrake) machines & 2 windows machines.
What I want to do is connect all the machines to the switch & then connect the DSL modem to the switch.
I want to set up the redhat machine to connect to the internet through the switch (remember, the DSL modem will only be connected to the switch) & then I'll setup the other machines to use the redhat machine as a gateway.
Basically, my main question is, will that switch recognise that one of the ethernat cables is for the DSL internet connection & let the radhat machine connect to the internet through the switch??? I have never used a switch so I'm not 100% sure how they work.
Am I going about this in entirely the wrong way or what
If you cant understand what I'm trying to explain tell me what didnt make sense & I'll try explain it better.
Thanks in advance
