Drives/devices missing from KDE 3.1.5 desktop

I'm used to haveing my HDs/CDs/Floppies on my desktop, but one fine logon they suddenly evaporated! Even the / partition! Does anyone know why this happens? I've checked the configuration but it still says 'Display devices on the desktop'

Thanks!
