Downloads freezing

Hi,

I've been experiencing problems when downloading files - the download sometimes just stops and I need to restart it. This happens with wget, Firefox, and others. My best guess is that the problem is with my wireless adapter or the wireless connection to my router - but I'm not sure quite what. Perhaps the connection is being interrupted for just a tiny amount of time, causing the download to be interrupted and get stuck?

It's really irritating me having to cancel downloads because they get stuck - especially ones I can't resume... And it also means I can't leave my computer downloading stuff because when I come back I find it hardly downloaded any and just got stuck right after I left the room...

So can anybody suggest why this might be happening, or how to figure out the cause? Even better, could anybody suggest a possible solution?

Thanks a lot

I use wget with the -c option or rysnc which picks up where you left off.

For example:
wget -cm -nH --passive --cut-dirs=9 \
ftp://mirror.dulug.duke.edu \
/ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/enterprise/3/en/os/i386/SRPMS

or

Using rsync to download distributions:
rsync ftp.ibiblio.org::distros/ #displays the available distros
rsync -vP ftp.ibiblio.org::distros/peanut/peanut-0.9.6.iso . #dowloads to current directory

From man wget
Code:
       -c
       --continue
Continue getting a partially-downloaded file. This is useful when you want to finish
up a download started by a previous instance of Wget, or by another program. For
           instance:

                   wget -c ftp://sunsite.doc.ic.ac.uk/ls-lR.Z

Thanks for replying. I know about -c, and I've been using it. The problem isn't that I can't resume my downloads, but that they keep freezing up so that I am forced to halt then resume them. What I need is a way to stop them getting stuck in the first place.
