how can i download an old version of windows and possibly put it on a partition on my computer? if there any sites to get the files i'd appreciate knowing.
I would think that you could buy legal copies of Windows on e-bay. When I pull the plug on Win 2K in the next few months, I will put it on e-bay with a starting/minimum bid of $5 + shipping.
Other than things like the above, there will not be any free--and legal--source.
Beyond going via Microsoft, there is no other way to do it. Windows is not abandonware and downloading it from any where other than Microsoft is likely to be illegal. You could try eBay for legal licensed copies or a computer fair.
I am closing this because the urge to mention torrent sites may be too much for some.
