Does Linux from Scratch produces an Indipendent Distro

Hi everybody,
Of late I came with the idea of building my very own customized distro...for the purpose,I chose (or the only option I had) to go with "Linux From Scratch"...Currently,I've got Fedora Core 6 over the machine and doing L.F.S. over it...So the question arises that the new distribution that I'll be making will be a derivative of FC6 or the final outcome will be the Distribution of its own i.e Linux From Scrath will be an indipendent distribution irrespective of what "base system" I choose.
I apologise in advance if it sounds too stupid but necessary for me.

It doesn't depend on the host system you build it on, in the sense that the host system is needed only because you need something to run the compilation tools etc. needed to build the new operating system.

LFS is not probably going to be what you're after, though, you'll need to do some more work with it. As I understand it, LFS is pretty much a base for an operating system; BLFS goes further, and so on. If you want udev, hotplug, desktop environments and so on, you'll have a very long route to take..

Thanks to both of you...actually this was just bugging me off and now that my doubts are clear,I can continue with what I was doing...And yes,I very soon will be graduating to BLFS once my LFS project is over (actually am a 3rd year Engineering Student and doing this as my summer project)...But here again Ill constantly need your generous support...
Thanx again !!!
