Do you use a panel on the bottom or top?
Hi.
Do you use a (main) panel on the bottom or top? |
On my systems (Linux and Windows) always top. I do, however, tend to leave the panels where they are at work on my Windows machines (XP, 8 and 10) because of restrictions and because Windows is annoying enough to use that panel placement doesn't seem to make it any better.

I should have added an option for side panels.

I like the bottom. Seems to distract me less. I HATE sides. I'll use top if it defaults to the top, it doesn't bother me but I'm not as big a fan.

Just had a look - bottom. Got to say thought that the location is largely irrelevant as I tend to ATL-TAB between windows. I also tend to organise my windows across workspaces so move around with CTRL-ALT-UP/DOWN ARROW
|
My first computer OS was Windows 95, so I just feel that the panel (I still think of it as the taskbar) belongs on the bottom. I briefly used XFCE on Mint and having a top panel irritated me no end. My mouse automatically gravitated to the bottom of the screen and then found nothing to click on.
I suspect that people who are used to OSX would have the opposite problem. |
I've got one along the side at the moment with launcher icons. Everything else, including notifications and statuses, is in a thin one along the top.

Top and autohide.
It's actually a bit of an irritant when minimising or closing a full screen window but I've had it that way so long so I stick with it. |
No option for "both"?? I use both top and bottom panels (both with autohide).

But where would the options end? |

I use a vertical panel on the left.
