Just curious to know whether you people use linux because you 'support the opensource advocacy',or because it is a better operating system,or both!!
Well,I use it cos' I think it is a better OS,and to an extend, just due to curiosity.'Opensource' is really good if you have enough money/job with you. So,frankly saying, its not for guys like me,living in this part of the world!!
I like showing off my linux system especially when someone I know is having tons of windows related problems
Personally I hate the way M$ does business and I'm not thrilled about the OS (it has a place...just not for me...) especially with the "Big brother" pretentions Microsoft seems to get periodically....that said, I don't preach from the mountain top either...my attitude is, if windows is what you want, go ahead...if you ask me what is best, I'll say Linux everytime.
.. was in Linux - General in which is more for Linux technical questions belong. General discussions like this about lawsuits, etc belong in just General.
Anyway, have I commited any serious sin??And why are the mods not moving it??

IMHO no you haven't, so relax, OK.
It takes time to move things y'know.
One question I gotta ask is, would you mind cutting down on your signature size? I mean, you got like six rolled into one and near 1.5K chars, which is quite beyond proportion compared to your replies.
Wrt to your original question, I use Linux/GNU because it helps me reach my goals, and Linux advocacy hasn't been an argument in choosing the Linux/GNU platform for me. I doubt it would be for anyone. Doesn't mean a lot of people here wouldn't benefit from reading the "Linux advocacy HOWTO" tho.
Btw, didn't you really mean to say "OSS philosophy" instead of "Linux advocacy"? That would make more sense to me wrt choice.
I first got linux because it looked and sounded cool. But as i learned more about Open source software and stuff, I totally think the GNU/GPL is awsome.
