Do i need rpcbind/portmapper?
Hi
When i run nmap to check the open ports on my system i see that rpcbind is running. Ive searched some one google and on this forum and i see that for example NFS needs rpcbind tp function properly. I have also noticed the /etc/rpc file. Does the /etc/rpc file contain all the network services that need rpcbind ? Does someone know how i can find out if i need rpcbind/portmap (ive read what it is, but dont really know if i need it or not) ? Im just running an ssh and smtp server on my box. |
For just ssh and smtp, you don't need portmapper or rpcbind
