DNS Entry Addition

Hi All ,

I am new to this Linux World and also new to this DNS entries, setting up domains and stuff like that. From the little bit of reading I got to do I understand that the named.conf file will need some changes to be made for the BIND server to accept them and then start routing traffic based on that on ym domain.

MY questions is

"aren't there any built in GUI tools or GUI tools avbl that can be used to modify this named.conf " file instead of doing it the text based way adding C type commands.

Linuxconf is shown as an example tool in my Linux Book. But that book is for a 7.0 version. Now when I type LInuxconf in my fedora 9.2 nothing comes up other than error.
Any help is appreciated.

Regards ,

Webmin is a GUI tool which will set up DNS if you have it installed it is accessable from http://localhost:10000

This is also a good article which may help you
Bind

Personally I think that if you set it up on the command line you will understand much more about how it works

There are a few things to look out for in Fedora concerning the directories which is explained in the above article

Do some reading, then have a go yourself, when you get stuck just ask

Regards

Pete
