.dmrc in ntfs (cannot change permission to 644)

Currently I have my home drive mounted as an ntfs partition. Since ntfs doesn't support linux permissions, I am unable to chmod my .dmrc file as 644. Whenever I try it default back to 777. As a result, everytime I log in, I always see that annoying .dmrc message. Is there anyway to move the .dmrc file and get it read by the system from elsewhere?

Unfortunately the problem isn't that there is no dmrc file or that I haven't tried setting permissions for it, its that I can't set the proper permisions for it because the filesystem that my home drive is on is NTFS. Therefore whenever I try to set the permissions to 644 or whenever I change the ownership to myself, it always defaults back to 777 and having the root as owner.
