Distro for MythTV and Transcode

I'm helping a friend migrate to Linux from Windows. One of his "must haves" is PVR with encoding. That means MythTV and Transcode. I can't find a distro where both install. It seems if a distro installs one the other is a conflict. How can this be when MythTV uses Transcode? Anyone has both apps installed and working? Which distro are you using? And did you take any special steps? I've tried Ubuntu/Kubuntu, Debian, Mepis, Mandrake, and Xandros. KnoppMyth is not an option because he only has one box and has to keep Windows (job-related).

Pete M,

Thanks so much. I have both distros already but didn't try because I thought they wouldn't either. Glad to know that they do. I will try this evening when I get home. Check back here in case I need you!!!
