Distributed Forum Software?

Is there any software out there that allows for distributed hosting?

A online forum I am a member of is having financial problems as the traffic on the site is getting large and the bill is getting expensive. We prefer to keep the forum free.

Is there software out there that will allow the forum to be distributed over the net through several different hosts? i.e. the current server would act as the 'mother server' and several other computers could be picking up the network slack.

Any info on this would be greatly appreaciated.

yeah, www.invisionboard.com or www.phpbb.com are two of the best free forums out there..

But I think invision is the way to go... it allows you to link forums to other url's...

check out http://iscream.homelinux.org and click on the linux stuff... this is just a sample forum that I am working on right now... thought I would show you it can be done..

the only catch is if you do not want to purchase a license, you can't remove the copyright stuff they put in the script.. not a big deal though..

Hahahahaha amazing. That's pretty bad though. I get embarrassed posting in threads that are even 5 months old. 12 years.......I hate to know what the record is.

If I did this on StackExchange, I'd get an "Excavator" badge, but I suppose this forum isn't StackExchange
