DISPLAY variable error...cannot set it


Hi,

I am running RHEL WS 4.0.

When I set the variable DISPLAY=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:0.0 it is not setting it. Gives an error cannot open display.

Any solutions/hints apprectiated.

prefix it with export: "export DISPLAY=1.2.3.4" remember this is per login only, i.e. only from that terminal window etc...

I had something like

export DISPLAY=10.20.67.240:0.0 in my /etc/profile

I need to set this variable for an ERP I am installing on the linux box

Any suggestions
