Diskless server
hi,
i would like to make a linux server that will serve diskless workstations(clients that will boot of the network without a HD and will load the OS and kernel over the network) i know how the idea works in general, but i googled for some tutorials to get details/steps on doing it; and all i found was either obsolete or doesnt cover all the areas/steps i need. some links/tutorials would be very appreciated. i've seen the system running before with the following specs: server with debian woody acting as server,, serving mandrake 10.1 to the diskless clients using DHCP and NFS i need tutorials that cover the following: installing the server, what modules neede etc... configuring DHCP and NFS and loading the kernel part configuring the diskless OS and moving it on the server. thanks, Achraf El Kashef |
You don't give specific names of the resources you've found already so this might be a repeat. However, it's worth stating. The Linux Terminal Server Project is exactly what you're looking for (if I understand correctly).
