Hello,

I am running Grid Control and I have suddenly begun receiving "disk device busy" messages. We are running Oracle 11.2.0.2 on a 64-bit RH Linux platform.

EM Alert: Warning:

Occurred At=May 7, 2012 9:28:55 PM EDT
Message=Disk Device sda3 is 83.57% busy.
Metric=Disk Device Busy (%)
Metric value=83.57
Disk Device=sda3
Severity=Warning
Acknowledged=No
Notification Rule Name=Host Monitors

So can any one please help me out , Where can i find the logs to identify the issue.

Thanks,
Raghu.

You're receiving this message from Enterprise Manager Grid Control because a parameter, in this case "Disk Device Busy", has exceeded a predefined threshold. EM is warning you of a potential bottleneck in the system.

Does this warning appear under specific circumstances, such as the generation of large reports? Are users complaining of poor application performance? Has something been upgraded, added or altered recently?

This may or may not be a serious issue. Without knowing the specifics of your setup (such as the name of the application, the circumstances and frequency under which this warning orrurs, the size of the database, what exactly is on /dev/sda3, the type of disk subsystem), I can't really be more specific.
