Disable F10 for menu drop down

In KDE, (maybe Linux in general too) the F10 key brings up the File menu. Is there any way to turn this off? I am used to having F10 for other things, so if there is a way to disable this, how?

many thanks for your help!

Barry

Here's a gnome solution:

gconftool-2 --get /desktop/gnome/interface/menubar_accel
gconftool-2 --type string --set /desktop/gnome/interface/menubar_accel ""
gconftool-2 --get /desktop/gnome/interface/menubar_accel
