Dir_colors

It seems ls is not picking up additional color def I have in /etc/DIR_COLORS

In .bashrc I have
alias ls='-F --color=tty'

In /etc/profile I have
eval "dircolors -b /etc/DIR_COLORS"

however it's still showing only the basic coloring(folder=blue, exe=bright green....etc), even if I turn off color in /etc/DIR_COLOR (color none) it still showing basic colors.

anything I missed here?

I am running
gnome-terminal
slackware 9.0
bash

Hi,

It's a good idea to try outside X, running only bash, to see if the colors can be modified (restart the session after you made the changes).

If it's working ther, then look if the option "TERM xterm" (guess is the gnome-terminal $TERM) is in the file ...

Hope that helps ...
