Lightbulb difference between hda and hda@

Hi,
I am deeply frustrated using MAKEDEV. I am using a Mandrake 9.1 and is trying to develop a mini linux system.

Read a lot of documents before tried LFS, it's OK but damn boring. (first static and dynamic)

while I make ./MAKEDEV generic, all the devices gets listed but QuickInst of Lilo does find any device .

It says /dev/hda1 is not a device select right device .

Now when i move to dev in Mandrake created distro i found
hda1@

but in my case it's hda1.

So what is the difference between hda1 and hda1@.
Is hda1@ is the device and hda1 isn't ?

help...
