well, i got wine from cvs and installed everything, than i waned to run diablo with wineserver && wine 'Diablo II.exe' and diablo doesn't start, only the cpu works 100% till i close the terminal from which i started it
i geht this error:
err:midi:OSS_MidiInit ioctl on midi info for device 0 failed.
but this shoudn't be the problem, i get same error with jedi knight2 and it works pretty good,
so any idea?
thx ;)
There are a few problems that you have to get around before you can play Diablo 2 Under wine. . .
It took me all night to get it working right when I was having problems with it, but then I realized basically why It wasn't working. . .
- First of all, You need to run Diablo 2 Full screen, (not windowed) Otherwise, it won't catch your keyboard input
- Second of all, Your CD Key for LOD and Diablo 2 are imbedded into the Patch_D2.mpq and d2data.mpq files . . . Download a utility that will tell you your cd key's to make sure that you have them . . (I had this problem after following another tutorial on the internet that provides these two files. . . - and then tries to bypass the cd-key check - which won't let you play on the Battle.net - but this method will)
- Finally, Since Wine-cvs doesn't support Safe-disc, you have to download D2-Loader to bypass the cd-check. . .
As far as i know, this method should work with any version you can find a no-cd crack for. . 1.09b is the version I used, and It worked perfect. . .

well, it runs now, but lets take my whole screen, 1600x1200, the game has 800x600, so it uses the left corner of my screen, the rest turns black, how to change this? btw if i tell wine to do it in a window with 800x600 it carshes, any idea why?
well. the screen is locked there, but the rest of the screen turns black,
i read on an diablo2 faq for linux that if i write in /etc/X11/XF86config 1600x1200 and 800x600 i can switch between them simply with control + numpad + and -, but this didn't work,
is this possible to work? and how can i tell wine to switch to 800x600 during game? on transgaming.com are some posts that it should be possible, and they always tell the XF86config thing, what i'm doing wrong?
Well, I've read that in the XF86Config file myself, but I've never really tried to change resolutions that way, so. . . Sorry, but I'm not sure why that's not working for you. . .
