df only accepts one argument

Not sure if this is the correct forum, but this seems like a pretty general question...

RedHat 4 64 bit box, for some reason, is only accepting one argument for 'df'.

So, when the following command is executed:

df -P /tmp

It is reporting the disk free information for every partition on the machine, not just the partition /tmp is on. If you execute:

df "-P /tmp"

It correctly reports just on the partition /tmp is on. Also, if you move the df from a 32 bit box so it is first in PATH it behaves as expected. Both df's are version:

df (coreutils) 5.2.1

I'm not sure what else could be causing this strange behavior. If anyone has any ideas where to begin, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I'm not all too familiar with Red Hat, but is there something in your ~/.bashrc configuration that might be affecting df?

(Also, are you familiar with the .bashrc configuration file?)
