device


how to identify that which device is associated with file in /dev
e.g

harddrive ==== /dev/hda /dev/hdb....
usb----/dev/sda1 .?

coz i wanna to about tape drive

Tape devices will usually end up in /dev/st

dmesg will usually give you a clue on what is detected on your particular system.
