Hello everyone! I am back again. Sorry for bugging people but I really need help. I've a computer with serial ATA and ATA hard drive installed. I wanna install linux on ATA hard drive. The problem is with boot loader. I wanna use linux's bootloader. Will it be able to recognize SATA hard drive which has WinXp on it. I really want to install linux 'cause linux is best. Can anyone tell me which linux to use or how to install it so that it can detect both hard drives? I tried with Redhat , Mandrake and heard that Suse 9 can't detect SATA.

Depends on the bootloader. Use grub, as it can use the bios to detect the sata drives and boot them. Lilo can boot them, but you have to have them working in linux first, but many SATA controllers aren't supported yet.

Thanks for ur reply. But are you sure if i install Mandrake 10 beta 2 on ATA hard drive and use GRUB it will detect SATA? I've Maxtor's Diamond plus 9 and Promises FastTrak 378 controller.
