desktop screen capture with video help
Heyas, I was wondering how I could create a screenshot of my desktop with a video playing and not have a big block of blue in my screenshot. I've seen it done around the web before, but have yet to figure out how. I did some searching around this website and couldnt find what I was looking for...
Example of the SS's i'm talking about: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/screenshots.html I've tried GIMP and xwd so far. Both show the big blue box where the video should be. >< Running: Zenwalk Linux 2.0.1 XFCE 4.2.3.2 Thanks for any help :) - Neverwhere |
I dont know how to do it XFCE, but in if you run KDE then "CTRL + ALT + Print" will do the job.
Alternatively there is a program named as ksnapshot. |
Thanks, i have KDE-libs installed, so i'll go find ksnapshot and install that too and give it a try. thanks :)

How do I change VLC's video output mode? Maybe that works. |
Oh, found a solution.
In the preferences: video: output modules menu area, select X11 for capture. Capture is impossible in other video modes because the data is being written directly to the video card. |
Hey, you can use "Prnt+Scn" button to help you capture screenshot from desktop, then paste it on MS paint, and you can save the picture. If it doesn't work, you can use some screen recording program, which can help you record screenshot with high quality.
The one I used can capture anything on computer screen to image file, and you can select any portion of the screen to take screenshot. And it also can help you save the file to standard image format, such as JPG, GIF, BMP, PNG etc. |
