Your welcome in Debian I use /etc/init.d/service_script start|stop|restart and that works fine for instance if you want to restart the X server and the display manager if using KDE then it would be /etc/init.d/kdm restart if use gdm, xdm or wdm just put them in the line to achieve the same effect.
