Desktop help

Everytime I boot my computer and I click on an item in desktop, a prompt comes up asking me if I'm sure if I want to delete this item, even if I did not want to delete the item in the first place. If I click yes, it deletes the item from the desktop, if I click no it stills ask me the same question untill I reboot. If I want to use any program I have to go to the start option since clicking on a destop item will start this process. Help, anyone please???

I'm not sure which distribution or desktop environment you are using but I'd take a guess that you have a key or key combination stuck which is trying to delete the file.

A slightly no technical way to try and stop it without taking the keyboard apart would be to shut down the PC and give each key in turn a sharp tap to make sure it is free then boot the PC and see if it is fixed.
