Deleting partitions?

I am trying to install Slack 10.1 on my 60GB drive (notebook) and when I type the command:

Code:
fdisk -l
/dev/hda1 1 6000 48194999+ 83 Linux
/dev/hda2 6001 7296 10410120 82 Linux swap
How do I tell Linux to delete these 2 partitions so I can start from scratch? I am not mounting the partition as I am booting from the Slackware disk to see this.

Thanks for any help.

cfdisk /dev/hda

the 1 is the partition number, you want to work with the whole drive
