Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I had installed fedora core 3, and installed the boot loader on installation partition and then created the linux.bin file via the rescue disk to boot it through the winxp boot loader. Everything was fine until I felt I need to increase the partition size of ext3. I usually use Partition magic 8 for this through windows. but this time it was strange, partition magic didnt allow me to resize or even delete the ext3 partition giving an error saying I needed a update for partition magic to do the command. I went back into the linux rescue disk now previously on linux installation it showed the ext3 to be hda9 while through fdisk in rescue mode it showed it to be hda6. That is confusing. Secondly now I just want to remove the ext3 partition and the swap partition but I dont know how to do it through fdisk. when I type "fdisk /dev/hda" it further asks e for a command, on typing d for delete it asks me for a number between 1-9 and upon giving one it doesnt do anything. Please help me delete the ext3 and swap through fdisk cause I cant do it any other way now.
