Default user groups

Hi, I have created a new regular user using users-admin, but I forgot to add groups which the user was a member of (like audio). Consequently the permissions for this user are all screwed up, so I went back into user-admin and added every group except root. What I would like is to set the default user group permissions, because currently I am worried the user is overprivileged and I don't have another regular user account which I can check to get the defaults. The groups I have available are:

- <username>
- adm
- audio
- backup
- bin
- camera
- cdrom
- clamav
- crontab
- daemon
- Debian-exim
- dialout
- dip
- disk
- fax
- floppy
- games
- gdm
- gnats
- hal
- irc
- kmem
- list
- lp
- lpadmin
- mail
- man
- messagebus
- mysql
- news
- nogroup
- operator
- plugdev
- proxy
- root
- sasl
- shadow
- src
- ssh
- staff
- sudo
- sys
- tape
- tty
- users
- utmp
- uucp
- video
- voice
- www-data

Any advice is appreciated.

just create another user and see what the defaults turn out to be..........then delete it and re-set the permissions of the first user.........

Usually on all Linux systems, the default group for any newly created user is users. Any others are usually added manually.

Thanks for the help all, I've downsized the list to just:

audio, cdrom, staff, users. That seems to be OK, everything is working as it should.
