Damn Small Linux: network settings "disappear"

Hi,

I'm experimenting with Damn Small Linux.
All goes well, but ...

in /opt/bootlocal.sh
I keep mij network settings
(assigning IP, gateway, it's in a local network)

after some searching I found that my network settings
are working for a few seconds ...
Meaning I'm able to download 1 page from www.whatever

after that my network settings are somehow diabled.

When I set them back manually everything works fine
and stays that way.

I guess some background process at boot is doing something
it's not supposed to do, but that's just a guess.

Anyone have a clue what may cause this ?
