cyrus-imap: per-message \Seen flag

I'm interested in having a shared folder to which several users have access as themselves; yet I want the \Seen flag be to be set globally for the message. So, if one user reads a message, that message should be marked as "seen" for all other users. I'm having a hard time reconciling the information I'm reading here with (what I thought was the) fact that Cyrus implements a per-user \Seen flag, as opposed to a per-message \Seen. I hope someone would clear up my confusion.
