Unhappy CVS issues

After almost a year of smooth sailing. Several of my users are experencing problems with CVS updates. They will have a successful update and then the next attempt fails. They get the following error in WinCVS

"cvs [checkout aborted]: reading from server: Connection reset by peer".

but the process remains on the server. I believe that subsequent attempts can be hindered by these dead processes. I have encountered this error myself and usually go to the server and kill my process and then it will work.

Is there anyway to monitor all the cvs connections to the server? Could there be some limit to those? Need Help. Thanks.
