Creative Audigy and MIDI
Hi there!
I own a creative audigy which works nice, all 5 channels are clear ... loud ... just like I want it! Thanks to alsa...
Yesterday I found my old MIDI-keyboard and thought about trying it again. I only used it back in the days I tortured myself with windows... never under linux... time to change that.
Before doing anything else I downloaded some midi-files to check if midi does work ... and it didn't ..
So I checked out the midi-HowTo ... but my system differs soooo much from the one in the howto ... I can't help myself with that howto ... always "check for this" ... "make sure taht this" ... but no "if not than you have to..." in a way that helps me. Plus I am very untalented at this... :-)
Can someone give me some hints where to start? The only thing I did up to now is to turn all sliders in kmix and alsamix to max ... even although none of them had anything with midi in it's name...
Do you need some outputs? I think maybe the one from lsmod is a good beginning... seems so in the howto .. so here is my "lsmod | frep midi":
snd-seq-midi 3648 0 (autoclean)
snd-seq-midi-emul 4832 0 (autoclean) [snd-emux-synth]
snd-seq-virmidi 3000 0 (autoclean) [snd-emux-synth]
snd-seq-midi-event 3296 0 (autoclean) [snd-seq-oss snd-seq-midi snd-seq-virmidi]
snd-seq 38064 2 (autoclean) [snd-seq-oss snd-seq-midi snd-emux-synth snd-seq-midi-emul snd-seq-virmidi snd-seq-midi-event]
snd-rawmidi 12996 0 [snd-seq-midi snd-seq-virmidi snd-emu10k1]
snd-seq-device 4096 0 [snd-seq-oss snd-seq-midi snd-emu10k1-synth snd-emux-synth snd-seq snd-emu10k1 snd-rawmidi]
snd 32388 0 [snd-seq-oss snd-seq-midi snd-emux-synth snd-seq-virmidi snd-seq-midi-event snd-seq snd-pcm-oss snd-mixer-oss snd-emu10k1 snd-pcm snd-timer snd-hwdep snd-util-mem snd-ac97-codec snd-rawmidi snd-seq-device]
Before I forget it: KMid plays the midi-files without errors... but I hear no sound...
Ok, that's it for now. I hope someone has a clue and shares it with me :-)
Thanks so much, ... and MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
