Creating Virtual Machine Shortcuts

I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes. I am running Ubuntu Feisty and have a Windows XP virtual machine running on vmware so I can run a few work essential programs. What I want to do, if possible, is create a shortcut that will open up my XP "machine" and fire up a specific program on the virtual machine. Can that be done with a script?
