creating symlink on samba drive
 

Hello ,

can someone tell me how to create a symlink on samba drive which points to some file on the drive from windows machine . Can i use cygwin or something ?

As far as I know you cannot create a symlink on a samba mounted drive - unless the samba mounted drive is itself a Linux ext2/ext3 drive? Don't know. But as as far as I know you must work on a Linux filesystem (reiser / ext2 /ext3 whatever) in order to be able to create symlinks.

What exactly do you want to do?

i want to create the link on samba mounted drive which is on Linux filesystem , from a Windows machine which access this drive from network .
