Creating Partitions / image partitions

Dear all; Can someone suggest me which is the best partition structure for this?
I've a HP Proliant w 1GB Ram and 2 SATA Maxtor(230Gb), i wanna to create a 2nd disk space for a frecuently Image partition backup.
Is a server to process statistical data.

example:

sda1 /boot (100 mb - ext2)
sda2 swap (4 Gb )
sda3 / (data. ext3 - all free remaining space)
sdb1 ??? (data. aprox 220GB. - ext?)
sdb2 ??? (aprox. 10 Gb Image Backup - ext?)

I don't know what mount point and type define to /sdb1 and /sdb2.

Can someone tell me which is the best soft to make all the partition image backup in the /sdb2 partition ?

Any suggest

THKS A LOT !

GPL software is partimage.....available on most live cds such as kanotix, knoppix or mepis.

(2) if you compress as you go....a rough guide is 30-40 of the size of the raw data....depending on how compressed it was.....

so if 220 G is the data size you have probs with the target partition of 10G.

I will leave it to you to decide.

btw....if you mean a server....you probably get a tax deduction for your expenses so a tape backup could be the way to go?
